Locker area for Ikea headquarters designed for multiple uses

At the IKEA headquarters located north of London, more than 1000 employees work and hundreds of visitors are received daily. After the headquarters’ renovation, the Swedish firm needed two locker areas: one space dedicated to visitors and another area for employee changing rooms and lockers.

To align with the company’s values, POLYPAL proposed a locker solution based on design and functionality. The solution not only meets storage requirements but also pursues employee well-being.

In addition to significantly increasing the number of lockers compared to the initial situation, a series of needs stemming from the design were also covered.

The design was adapted to different storage requirements, from single-compartment lockers to 6-compartment options.

Regarding personal storage areas, the demands are very varied. Some users need no more space than to store a handbag, while others may have larger items such as a jacket and motorcycle helmet. Even in the case of foreign visitors, there may be a need to store suitcases.

After the renovation, IKEA’s facilities have a wide configuration of lockers. From lockers composed of six compartments to single-compartment lockers.

With the obligation to comply with the safety and health regulations required by IKEA’s food services, workers must be able to change into their uniforms at work, therefore, the arrangement and size of the lockers is important. Additionally, all lockers feature an ActiveCoat© finish to provide anti-bacterial protection.
