Six shelving solutions for the multi-format Sonepar warehouse

Client

Sonepar is a leading multinational group in the distribution of electrical products, solutions, and related services, with a presence in 40 countries. In Spain, it has 132 points of sale, 7 logistics centers, and a team of 2,200 people.

Need

The creation of this new logistics center is part of Sonepar Spain’s growth strategy in the supply chain. A project aimed at increasing productivity, improving operational efficiency, and optimizing the service offered to its customers, thereby strengthening its capacity to respond to new market demands.

Solution

The logistics center, with an area of 20,000 m², has been equipped with various shelving solutions adapted to the different types of electrical products marketed by Sonepar, and has the capacity to store up to 35,000 stock references.

• Conventional pallet racking with a capacity for 10,300 pallets. It allows quick and selective access to each reference, ideal for operations with high turnover and product variety, as is the case with Sonepar.
• Compact drive-in racking for the storage of 800 pallets. This high-density storage system maximizes space utilization by eliminating aisles between racks. Ideal for large volumes of the same reference and LIFO (Last In, First Out) operations.
• Shelving for the storage of 890 reels of different sizes. Reel racks are shelving units specifically designed for storing cable reels. They are equipped with horizontal axles that allow reels to be placed and rotated to unwind the material directly from the rack, simplifying handling. This system facilitates access, improves operator ergonomics, and allows for high storage density, easily adapting to reels of various sizes and weights.
