Frioteis is a Galician company dedicated to the cold storage of frozen foods, specializing in seafood products. The company offers logistical solutions to its clients for storing goods in its refrigeration chambers from the moment the fish arrives on boats until its shipment to the final destination.

Need

In its early years of operation, Frioteis stored goods in block storage chambers where pallets were stacked on top of each other, in response to a market that demanded bulk movements of goods. However, over time, the client portfolio began to diversify, and with it, the variety of processed products that required new, more specific storage methods.

Without abandoning block storage and conventional pallet racking, Frioteis incorporated chambers with mobile pallet racking into its facilities. Thanks to this mix, they were able to serve both clients with bulk products and those with processed products that required more specific storage.

However, a increasingly demanding storage method that allows access to each pallet individually is gradually gaining ground in the market. This is the reason why Frioteis opted to create this chamber equipped with shuttle-operated racking. They were looking for a storage system that ensured optimal compaction of goods and, at the same time, facilitated access to pallets in a much more dynamic way, allowing for individual handling.

Solution

To achieve this, POLYPAL equipped the freezing chamber with shuttle-operated pallet racking with a capacity for 1,400 pallets. It is one of the most suitable systems for warehouses with high product turnover and large volumes of pallets per SKU.
