Solution for vehicle glass distribution center
Carglass is part of Belron, a company specialized in the repair and replacement of vehicle glass. Belron operates in 34 countries and has a team of over 21,000 employees. In Spain, Carglass has a presence in all provinces of the country through its 226 centers.
Solution
For this case, the POLYPAL technical department designed a conventional palletization system with a solution adapted for picking and palletizable levels based on:
- Lower shelves intended for manual handling. Designed with vertical separators for the correct classification of the glass and to also limit contact between them, thus avoiding breakage or deterioration.
- Upper shelves intended for the storage of boxes and/or containers. Because the load unit was bulky and had various dimensions, open shelves with reinforced metal grating were chosen to facilitate the positioning of the goods.
Installing metal gratings as shelves, instead of using particle board, reduces the fire load.
For this project, POLYPAL worked closely with the client, visiting the company’s own centers in Birmingham and Brussels to expand the understanding of their operational workflow.
