Safety and industrial storage training

A safe warehouse depends not only on good racking, but also on the people who work in it and how they use it. Staff training is one of the most important factors in preventing accidents, reducing damage to handling equipment, and extending the service life of warehouse racking.

At POLYPAL, we offer specialized training in safety and rack inspections, delivered at your own facilities and adapted to the day-to-day operation of your warehouse.

Good practices and inspections for industrial storage equipment

Both warehouse operators and the person responsible for the safety of storage equipment must be properly trained in the use of handling equipment and risk prevention, with the aim of avoiding accidents and reducing their consequences. This training is designed to meet that need in a practical way and adapted to each environment.

Training content

The reality of day-to-day warehouse operations

The starting point is the real environment in which the team works: the usual dynamics of an operating warehouse, the most common risky behaviours, and the situations most likely to lead to an accident.

Current regulations relating to industrial storage equipment

The applicable regulatory framework governing the use and maintenance of storage equipment is reviewed: Royal Decree 1215/1997, UNE-EN 15635, and NTP 852, together with the obligations they impose on both the user and the designated safety responsible person. Knowing the regulations is the first step towards complying with them.

Prevention and safety from the warehouse design stage

Warehouse safety does not begin once the facility is already in operation: it begins at the design stage. This section covers the design criteria that affect the safety of the installation throughout its service life and how decisions made at the start of the project influence day-to-day operations.

Considerations for the use of industrial storage equipment

This block covers the correct use of storage equipment: load capacities, operating restrictions, signage, use of handling equipment, and behaviours that help preserve the structural integrity of the installation.

Risks during warehouse and storage equipment use

The main risks associated with warehouse use are identified and analysed: forklift impacts, overloading, incorrect load handling, and the progressive deterioration of structural elements.

Technical inspections: frequency, guidelines, and damage assessment

This section explains how to carry out the periodic inspections required by the regulations: what must be checked, how often, how to document findings, and how to assess the risk level of each identified damage. This section is intended mainly for the person responsible for storage equipment safety and other employees responsible for installation safety.

The training combines theoretical cases with real practical examples so that participants can identify damage in the racking, assess its severity, and make the right decisions in each situation.

Do you want to improve the safety of your warehouse?

Warehouse accident investigation

When an accident occurs in a warehouse, the immediate priority is to understand what caused it so it does not happen again. It is not always obvious. In many cases, the accident is the visible result of a chain of factors that have gone unnoticed for weeks or months.

POLYPAL’s Technical Inspections team is trained to carry out warehouse accident investigations with a triple objective: to identify the causes that led to the incident, define an action protocol to resolve the risk situation immediately, and establish the necessary measures to prevent similar situations from recurring in the future.
