Insud Pharma, is a pharmaceutical group with a 45-year history present in more than 50 countries. It has 18 production plants and 15 R&D centres.
It operates across the whole of the pharmaceutical industry’s value chain, offering specialised knowledge in scientific research, development, production, sale and marketing of a wide range of active ingredients and medicines.
The company has experienced strong growth in recent years, thanks to various industrial portfolio development projects, opening new markets and lines of business. Due to this growth Insud Pharma needed to increase its storage capacity.
The pharmaceutical group chose to build a clad-rack warehouse in Azuqueca de Henares (Guadalajara). In this type of warehouse, the racking not only stores the goods and supports the loads, but also the structure of the walls and roof, avoiding civil construction of an industrial facility. This reduces execution times and costs compared to a traditional warehouse.
POLYPAL fitted out this automated clad-rack warehouse to store strapped products with a capacity of 29,568 pallets. The facility occupies a surface of 3,000 m2, with a height of 43 metres, length of 96 metres and depth of more than 30 metres width. The warehouse is operated by double and single-deep stacker cranes that travel the length of the warehouse aisles performing the functions of goods reception, location and dispatch.
The clad-rack warehouse has a height of 43 metres, equivalent to a 14-storey apartment block, and is operated by double and single-deep stacker cranes.
